A veterinary team of international professionals executed an intervention on the white tiger of our Zoo.

Several teeth of the 13-year-old male white tiger living in the Sóstó Zoo were broken down during an accident.

The fractures also affected the root canal of the teeth, spreading under the gums in several places. Broken teeth can be painful, they become infected, and they affect the animal's quality of life, which is why surgery was needed to be executed.

The surgery was executed by the Sóstó Zoo team and an external veterinary team.

The anesthesia was conducted by dr. Alexandra Biácsi, the senior veterinarian of the Sóstó Zoo, and her team.

The dental intervention was performed by dr. Olga Tretter , a Hungarian veterinarian, specializing in pet dentistry and oral surgery, dr. Daria Ziemann, Polish resident and two international dental specialist veterinarians: dr. Jan Schreyer from Germany and dr. Jerzy Gawor from Poland.

The members of the dental team traveled more than 3,500 kms to save Iceboy's teeth.

The intervention lasted for more than 4 and a half hours, which was a very serious challenge and required very serious professional preparation on the part of both teams.

The dental specialists took dental X-rays of each tooth as part of the health check. All four canines were root-treated, so they did not need to be removed.

The white tiger male can now be seen in the enclosure and is very glad to eat the previous forage with his new teeth.

Thank you for the joint work: Dr. Olga Tretter, veterinarian - DentalVet, VISIOVET and iM3 The Veterinary Dental Company.
